Announcement: Russell & Margery Chilton are the new owners of St Arnaud House Bed & breakfast, St Arnaud / Lake Rotoiti, Nelson Lakes National Park.

"St Arnaud House" is a boutique, secluded sub-alpine, bed and breakfast, nestled among-st the native beech forest, alive with Tui's, Bellbird's, and Robin's with their bird songs. St Arnaud house is adjacent to the Nelson Lakes National Park , and within easy strolling  distance to Lake Rotoiti (which is approx 600 metres by road or bush paths).

St Arnaud House B&B has; two queen bedrooms and one twin king single bedroom available, all with en-suite bathrooms.

Wireless broadband Internet, evening meals are available by prior arrangement.

St Arnaud, Lake Rotoiti, and the surrounding Nelson Lakes National park... 

St Arnaud is a small village set beside lake Rotoiti

"St Arnaud House" is the ideal base to explore the surrounding fantastic scenery and wilderness of the "Nelson Lakes National Park". Come back after that walk, relax with a great coffee and sit down to a New Zealand home cooked dinner (Margery would like to know in advance so that she can prepare dinner at $30.00 per person (pre arranged at time of booking is a must))

The Lake Rotoiti area offers a very wide range of recreational activities, from leisurely strolls along the many well formed marked tracks beside the Lake, to the more challenging tramps/hikes eg Parachute Rocks and ultimately on to the crest of the St Arnaud range or walk the Mt Robert Circuit, plus there is a wide range of challenging tramps/hikes along the many tracks and routes that explore Nelson Lakes National Parks rugged wilderness.

The "NZ Department of Conservation", maintain a comprehensive track and route system along with over 20 huts within the National Park. Along with the Visitors Center at St Arnaud where guidance, maps etc are available from Rangers and staff.

Coming events, held at St Arnaud in the new year are;

New Zealand Power Boat Association inc, National series 2010 races on Lake Rotoiti on the 27th-28th February 2010.

Antique and Classic Boat Show March 6th & 7th 2010,

All kinds of boats and their owners come together for a weekend of classic boating, displays, talks and the odd race. Canoes, classic sail boats, skiffs, seagulls, inboard clinkers, runabouts, classic hydroplanes and race boats, steam launches, Nelson Lakes Clinkers and other craft all gather on Lake Rotoiti, beside St Arnaud township, in a stunning natural setting. Over 100 boats and thousands of people turn up for a leisurely couple of days by or on the water

Other activities within close proximity to St Arnaud,  include:

Fishing, (the lakes and surrounding rivers are home to some of the best brown trout fishing that New Zealand has to offer).
 

Canoing the mighty Buller river, water skiing, wake-boarding and rowing on "Lake Rotoiti" with special events days such as the "Antique and Classic boat show", (Next year, held on the weekend of March the 6th & 7th 2010).

Hunting for deer, chamois, wild pigs, and rabbits in the Nelson Lakes National Park and surrounding areas.
 

Skiing on Rainbow Ski field, (the ski field has plenty of snow and at the moment we are having lovely clear sunny days. it is a approx 30 - 40 minutes drive to the ski field from St Arnaud house)
Mountain biking the many tracks of the Tee total Recreational area.

Bike Racing; numerous race's start at St Arnaud, ( Most noted are the "Source to the Sea" held in November and the "Rainbow Rage" held this year in April).
